With the addition of magic in his live shows\, he has legitimately achieved an all-inclusive audio/visual performance unlike anything experienced before. “So much of my music has miraculous qualities to it because it’s hard to tell what’s going on. There are lots of slights of hand and sonic misdirection. It feels like I was meant to do magic”. \n \nSilverman’s back-story is similar to many musicians that have come before him. He grew up a self-proclaimed music geek\, soaked in the influence of his jazz musician father\, and enrolled in San Francisco Conservatory of Music before joining the local jazz scene himself as a sought-after percussive bassist. This is where the similarities end though and where That1Guy truly began. “In my case\, being a bass player\, I just felt very restricted by the instrument itself\,” he says. “I’ve always wanted to sound different and have my own sound. I was headed that way on the bass\, but for me to fully realize what I was hearing in my head sonically I was going to have to do it my way”. His influential and innovative double bass style eventually evolved into what we see today as That1Guy and The Magic Pipe. \nAs his story continues to develop\, Billboard has famously noted\, “In the case of Mike Silverman’s slamming\, futuristic funk act… the normal rules of biology just don’t apply.” In addition\, Silverman also has new music and videos in the works for 2015 that will further validate his status as an industry trailblazer. “I like being my own person”\, he says. “I didn’t set out to be a weirdo\, but I’m starting to embrace it”. Ultimately\, his motivation can be encapsulated as this: “Human beings do our best work when we’re challenged and pushed up against the wall”. DESCRIPTION:Based out of Iowa\, Telekinetic Yeti is a two-man band that delivers sonic brutality melded with psychedelic doom wizardry\, forged by the worship of the almighty riff and honed by relentless touring and dedication to their craft. \nCreating music as cryptically enchanting as it is heavy\, you wouldn’t guess that the impressive cacophony pouring out of the speakers like molten\, metal syrup is being produced by only two people. Founder and guitarist Alex Baumann explains\, “Originally I decided not to have a bass player purely for logistical reasons\, it was just another schedule to work around\, another person who’s boss could tell us we can’t tour\, but then I started seeing it as a challenge\, like let’s see how heavy we can make it with just two people.” That started grabbing peoples attention. \n \nRelentless touring and playing pretty much any club that would have them\, the band set sail on their epic voyage\, selling their debut album Abominable out of their van and cutting their teeth in the underground playing hundreds of shows. All the while receiving rave reviews of their live performance as well as their first release\, which landed at #2 on the doom charts and stayed right there for months. The Sludgelord called the eight-song album “a f***ing monster from start to finish\,” and The Obelisk\, including the album in their year-end\, best of list\, dubbed it the “debut of the year\,” and said “it could have been another band’s second or third record for the level of cohesion on display.”  \nThe video for “Stoned and Feathered” racked up nearly a few hundred thousand views and counting. It was at this time that Telekinetic Yeti caught the attention of Ozzy Osbourne bass player\, Blasko\, who named Abominable on his “5 favorites” list.  \nPeople were starting to catch on\, and soon thereafter Telekinetic Yeti would be invited to tour extensively with some of the best heavy rock bands in the business\, including Clutch\, Black Label Society\, Red Fang and Weedeater. \nNow the band finds itself in a much different\, auspicious position\, and with the help of famed producer Phillip Cope (Baroness\, Kylesa\, Damad\, Black Tusk et al)\, Telekinetic \nYeti returns with their eagerly-anticipated\, second full-length album\, Primordial. With this release\, the band takes their game to a whole new level. This traditional string band line up bends the meaning of the word genre\, Playing festivals from Punk Rock Bowling\, to Muddy Roots\, to Oregon’s Bluegrass String Summit. They started their journey by busking on sidewalks across the country and  now this supergroup of musicians find themselves on the national tour circuit. The Sinners still hold true to the DIY mentality of putting albums out on a self made record label\, Flail Records. They recently hit #70 on the Billboard charts\, top current album sales\, for the week of September 4th 2021 for their album “Unholy Hymns”.
